JDT IN PERFECT FORM TO REALIZE MALAYSIA CUP DREAM

​PIALA MALAYSIA: JOHOR DT 4 - ATM 0 
 
After confirming their spot in the 2015 AFC Cup final, Johor Darul Takzim (JDT) was in the right set of mind to perform better in Malaysia Cup competition. The Southern Tigers beat ATM at Tan Sri Hassan Yunos Stadium with 4-0 on Saturday to stretch their winning streak in Group B match.
 
A through pass by Luciano from the outside of penalty area in 12th minute offered S.Chanturu hit with a powerful shot to beat ATM goalkeeper Syed Adney for an early lead. Safiq Rahim doubled up the score 12 minutes later after collecting a deflected ball from Syed Adney due to Safee Sali shot.

JDT kept on piling the pressure on ATM defence and it paid off after Luciano hit the net for the third goal after receiving Mahali Jasuli cross in 36th minute. Subtitute, Nazrin Nawi completed the glorious night for JDT after his first touch went straight into the net for the fourth goal for JDT in 70th minute. JDT head coach, Mario Gomez was full of praise for the team after earning another three valuable points.

ATM FALL AGAIN TO HIGH FLYING SOUTHERN TIGERS

PIALA MALAYSIA: ATM 2 - JOHOR DT 3

Malaysia Super League champions Johor Darul Takzim (JDT) made it two wins from two in Group B after a 3-2 victory away to ATM. Fresh from winning their AFC Cup quarterfinal encounter against South China, the Southern Tigers took good control of the match in Paroi.

​Marcos Antonio opened the scoring in the 9th minute before Mahali Jasuli added the second for JDT in the 26th minute. The home side tried to fightback into the game but JDT was too good in controlling the game. They held on well until the break with the two goals cushion.

​​Safiq Rahim did not take long after the restart as he blasted a powerful free kick to beat Syed Adney in the 52nd minute. After leading with three goals, JDT slowed down their tempo and started to rest some players. ATM refused to back-down and gave JDT a lot of problems towards the end. 

Two late goals by Abdulafees and Jerry Palacious were not enough to deny a full three points for the visitors. JDT topped the group with six points while ATM are still struggling for the right form.

JDT IS THE NEW SUPER LEAGUE LEADER

​LIGA SUPER: ATM 0 - JDT 1

Johor Darul Takzim (JDT) took the top spot in the Malaysia Super League (MSL) after a hard-fought 1-0 win over ATM on Saturday. The Armed Forces did not give it up easily to the high flying visitors in Paroi, but Safee Sali's strike was enough to cheer the Southern Tigers' fans.

​JDT could have celebrated earlier, however Luciano Figueroa's goal was dissalowed for a rough challenge on ATM goalkeeper Hafizuddin Azuhar. Pahang lost 4-2 at the hands of Lions XII gave the Southern Tigers the motivation to go all out for that important win. ATM played their hearts out despite having a bad run recently.

​Safee Sali finally gave JDT that much needed goal when he brilliantly strike a low cross from Amri Yahyah through the crowded ATM's area. The home side tried to strike back but Jerry Palacios header missed the target. The score remained until the end, and the defending champions are back on top of the table.

TERENGGANU HITS FIVE PAST GLADIATORS

​​MALAYSIA SUPER LEAGUE: ATM 1 - TERENGGANU 5

Terengganu thrashed ATM 5-1 on their own ground in Saturday's Super League match in Seremban. Issey Nakajima-Farran's second-half hattrick sent the Gladiators further into the relegation zone.

​​​Ismail Faruqi opened the scoring for Terengganu with a header in the 17th minute. Abdulafees Abdulsalam equalised for ATM six minutes later as his curling free kick beat the visitors' goalkeeper.

​The second half resumed and the Turtles shifted into top gear. Gustavo Lopez put Terengganu in-front again from a freekick five minutes after the restart. Substitute, Nakajima-Farran gave Terengganu their third of the night with a tap-in from Norshahrul Idlan Talaha's cross.

The Canadian striker completed his hattrick after scoring another two goals in the 73rd and 80th minute. The result sent Terengganu up to seventh place above PDRM.

SELANGOR SHOOT DOWN ATM TO TAKE TOP SPOT

​LIGA SUPER: ATM 1 - SELANGOR 3

Selangor moved to top of the Super League for the first time this season after an impressive 3-1 win over ATM at the Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium in Paroi. Afiq Azmi turned hero for Selangor, the striker scored a brace to lift the Red Giants over the struggling Gladiators.

​The visitors took the lead in the 8th minute from a counter-attack by Andik Vermanyah. The speedy winger sent a perfect through pass for Afiq to fire the opening goal past Forces goalkeeper Razi Effendi Suhit. ATM fought back with the equalizer from a free kick by Mario Karlovic in the 25th minute. The first half ended with 1-1 score.

​Selangor regained the lead again six minutes after the break. Afiq found the net after beating goalkeeper Razi with a close range effort. The Red Giants continued to pressure the home side. In the 70th minute, Andik was brought down inside the penalty area. Leandro Dos Santos stepped up and made no mistake to give Selangor a 3-1 win. Selangor share top spot with Felda United and Terengganu with 14 points. The Red Giants are top on goal difference. [FH]

SOUTHERN TIGERS TAMED GLADIATORS

​LIGA SUPER: JDT 2 - ATM 1

Johor DT took full advantage of playing in front of their home fans by beating struggling ATM 2-1 in Larkin on saturday. The home side displayed a good performance with new signings Patricio "Patito" Rodriguez and Alhaji Kamara making debuts.

​The Gladiators stunned the host with an opening goal in the 23rd minute. Jerry Nelson Palacious diverted an attempt by former JDT star Norshahrul Idlan Talaha. The goal could not kill the spirit of the Southern Tigers. Bojan Hodak boys were quick to react and grabbed the equalizer through Mohd Amri Yahya nine minutes later.

​JDT started to take control, they launched series of attacks into the visitors area but ATM held on. However, their efforts were paid-off in the 58th minute when Patito sent a perfect pass to Safiq Rahim. The national captain brilliantly curled the ball to beat ATM's goal keeper.

JDT kept the lead until full time. The win lifted JDT to share the same points with four other teams and one point behind Super League leader, PDRM.

ATM FALL AGAIN, FELDA UNITED TAKE TOP SPOT

​MALAYSIA SUPER LEAGUE: FELDA UNITED 2 - ATM 1

Felda United leaped to the top of the Super League as Perak and Kelantan fumbled in their matches on Saturday night. The Fighters proved that they are a strong contender in the current season after beating ATM 2-1 at the Selayang Stadium.

​Edward Wilson Junior brilliantly scored a rebound from Indra Putra's attempt in the 14th minute to give Felda United the lead. Ahmad Syamim Yahya doubled their lead 12 minutes later after heading in a free kick by Edward Wilson from outside the penalty box. The goal ensured Felda moved past Perak on goals scored with both teams tie on seven points and with the same goal difference.

​​But the Gladiators new signing Norshahrul Idlan Talaha reduced the deficit in the 34th minute. Felda United held on strongly for the rest of the 90 minutes to stay unbeaten after three matches and lead the table with seven points.
